The SO will join a dedicated and enthusiastic team of scientific staff working on
in-house and externally funded projects, and will assist senior staff in projects involving the development of vaccines
based on baculovirus expression vectors, including expression and purification of a range of proteins produced in
insect cells. The SO will be trained in, and gain experience of, a range of techniques including molecular biology, PCR,
virology, cell culture, analysis of recombinant proteins by SDS PAGE, Western Blot and other immunological assays,
and protein purification. All SOs also contribute to the general running of the labs.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated Biomedical/Biological Sciences graduate (BSc or MSc) who can
demonstrate good attention to detail and ability to work accurately to a high standard within a small team. A good
knowledge of molecular and cellular biology is expected and we prefer applications to have some experience of
working in a laboratory environment (e.g. BSc/MSc project work or through work experience). However, full training
will be provided in all necessary laboratory techniques; willingness to learn and work well within a small team is
important. Those with experience of cell culture/aseptic technique are particularly encouraged to apply.

Deadline: Noon, 30 November 2021.
