Reporting to the Board and working with the general manager and head of marketing, the role of sales manager is accountable for all sales efforts including, but not restricted:

  1. Direct sales
  2. Web sales
  3. Corporate accounts
  4. Third parties such as scientific warehouse

The role will carry the following expectations and obligations:

  1. Sales targets monthly, quarterly, and annually
  2. Product targets quarterly and annually
  3. Other key performance metrics
  4. Sales employee development including training & coaching.
  5. Pricing and promotion working with the GM and board member
  6. Account development of our most important customers
  7. A personal target for a small number of key accounts for the first 18 months

You will take responsibility for defining and implementing our sales strategy, KPIs and dashboard, reviewing key accounts and segmentation as well as overseeing day to day sales activities for 2BScientific Limited.

You will also be responsible for management of the UK based Sales team and their incremental targets.

You will set a ‘customer first,’ market leader vision for the team along with their goals, objectives, and their personal development.

Skills and capabilities

Ideally, we are looking for a person who is ready to take the next step in their career progression, wanting to step up into a senior management position.

You will have a proven record of accomplishment of high performance in a Sales function, delivering commercial success in a life science based B2B environment and some experience of sales management, account management and business development.

Your experience of Life Science Research Use Only reagent and custom service sales will be used to drive the team by maintaining and growing sales of all products & services in line with company expectations, strategic plans, and market trends. Management experience is critical in this role.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage the Sales team effectively and grow sales by consolidating and developing key accounts in all relevant industry sectors and setting incremental targets.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team, in a coordinated fashion, so our strategic goals are met.
  • Lead, manage and motivate the commercial teams to achieve ambitious incremental targets, meet KPIs and implement process efficiencies.
  • Take direct personal responsibility for the development of new Bulk reagent sales, identifying net new commercial customers, qualifying & developing leads and working collaboratively with the 2BScientific Suppliers.
  • Take direct responsibility for all third-party sales portals and their requirements.
  • Accurately forecast future sales and form sales plans to adapt to constant shifts in the marketplace.
  • Propose annual strategic plans for the company, in liaison with your team and other management.
  • Drive proactive sales initiatives (such as workshops, roadshows, account management, etc.) and plan attendance at industry events and conferences to generate new business leads.
  • Excellent people management, continuous training, and development of all members of the team.
  • Create a strong process structure and framework, ensuring they are followed by the team.
  • Measure, analyse and report on our sales data to refine activity and inform strategy, as well as a view to increasing sales margin.
  • Maintain and develop customer relationships.
  • Operating within a pre-agreed expenditure budget.
  • Oversee and manage the proposals process, designing feedback loops and governance structures to deliver on customer leads.
  • Completion of customer data inputs into Zoho CRM.
  • Attendance of quarterly Board meetings, as a director and preparing relevant reports accordingly.

Requirements

  • Leadership and management experience.
  • Experience selling research reagents and/or services.
  • Innovative, pragmatic, team-focused and customer-oriented in personality.
  • A minimum bachelor’s degree qualification (preferably in life sciences or management qualification).
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior Sales role.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines with strong planning and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to multi-task.
